Restoration Started

This week I began to disassemble my 1962 MGA for restoration. Here are a couple of pictures of the project. This car is complete with few exceptions such as the seat rails, body badges, and the original turn signal switch. This car was found in Manassas, Virginia where it had been stored in a dry garage since 1980. The previous owner obtained this car from his father in Albuquerque NM where it had been for years. The excellent sheet metal condition is consistent with the car having been in a dry climate, and the original Iris Blue paint is evident on many areas of the car although the car was painted several times before 1980.

As found in June 2009

Dash cover and radio appear original

Engine turned freely after soaking cylinders with Marvel Mystery oil

Straight body but each panel needs some work

Iris blue paint behind dashboard

Iris blue paint at top of front inner fender

Rust found in only the passenger rocker panel and dogleg

Hello Charlie,I see you are very busy with MG, me too! I live in the noth of France and come to you today not about the MGA you are beginnig but about a TF you have restored.I'm beginning the restoration of my TF and read on a Forum (MG-Cars info) you have make many research about the famous "Green Almond Metallic". Unfortunately the discussion on this forum stopped before you can give informations about what Rick Billet have done.As I would like to paint my car these color, could you give me some informations about and what you think about your experience?Many thanks for your help; I hope you'll understand my "poor English"You can write on my mail adress : cecil-k@live.fr maybe it could be easier.Kind Regards, Philippe.
