Ordered some new NGK wires as the ones on the car have been on there since 1986 when the car was parked. The points and condenser were new that I installed in the original distributor. I’ve been fighting it a little trying to get it to idle well since I got it running again. The wires showed up today so I put those on and commenced some tuning with little success. Timing light strobe was jumping around and the car was just not idling worth a damn so I decided to swap in a distributor that I bought off the forum. It had a Pertronix Igniter already installed and it’s a 25D 40897 out of a ‘67. It was pulled out of a good running car in favor of a 123 ignition system so I thought I’d drop it in and see if things would improve and finally I made some progress. Tweaked the carbs a bit more and it actually sounds ok. I think with a little more work, I can get it even better. I may send the original out to Jeff for a rebuild this Winter
Probably not going to do a whole lot more for a few days. One last camping trip for a few days and then it’s time to take the wheels down and get the new tires mounted and balanced and on the car. I want to get it out for its maiden voyage. 34 years in a garage. It’s time to get it back on the road.
