I haven’t done much lately. To either car. If you can still call the ‘70 a car after stripping it down to pretty much a bare shell. Lots of stuff has been relocated to new owners and all that remains are complete doors, bare seat frames, the suspension and the tub. The motor and gearbox are spoken for now and will be gone after the holidays so that will be good to have a new home for those. I’d like to strip the suspension off the car and send the tub off to the scrap yard. Too bad because it’s a very solid tub with almost zero rust. One tiny hole in the driver side floor is all I’ve seen but bare tubs are a hard sell. It’s a roller now but the plan is to drop it all out, cut it up and send it on to become a refrigerator or other appliance in its new life. Can’t keep it around forever. Suspension will get cleaned up, painted and transplanted into the GT eventually. The only thing I’ve done to the GT is order a clutch kit for it. Ordered one from BPNW yesterday and it was on my doorstep today. Fantastic service! Got some free candy in the box to boot.
I’ve been trying to get my project overdrive to work and have it all back together but haven’t got the pressure above 200 psi. The motor setup I’m using isn’t ideal and it bogs down before I can build up more pressure. Either I screwed something up after having it disassembled or I just need to have a better test setup. Haven’t figured out which yet. I’m going to see if I can rig up something better before I tear into the OD unit again. Just seems like it spins very easily when OD engages. No experience working on one of these to know if it’s normal. I saw a test rig done with an engine stand that I might try to copy to see if I can transfer the motor torque better than what I’ve been doing. I need to rule that out first.
Holidays are coming up so there won’t be much car work getting done for awhile but I’m going to see about that test rig. I’d like to have that OD figured out soon.
