I made some progress today but it wasn’t awe inspiring. Went to the paint supply house to have some more spray cans filled. Found out that I don’t need to clear the engine bay as the paint I have is supposed to be glossy.
The first couple of coats were but then subsequent coats lost the gloss.
The theory is that it was too hot when I sprayed the later coats. I’m supposed to have the next batch tomorrow sometime but if this weather remains in the mid-nineties, I’ll just have to wait.
I decided to use the time to finish cleaning and sanding the heater box components. The etch primer dries quickly so I was able to get all of the bits and pieces primed and then top-coated with the Dupli-Color semi-gloss Acrylic Laquer. I just need to clean up the clips, pressure test the matrix, reassemble, and add the various gaskets/foam and then it should set off the firewall nicely.
