Bits And Bobs

Small coolant leak. Looks like it is the heater core which I just bypassed, Tiem to get it running better. It is variously running rich and lean. Found a leak at the intake gasket for the 40 DCOE. Replaced gasket and the lousy cannon intake manifold for a straight shot. Took a look at the weber. PO had 2 inch runners on it which nearly touched the end plate of the iar cleaner, effectively blocking air flow. Went in and totally rebuilt the carb, re-jetted it, and after some further...

Part 4: Bringing Up The Rear

Posted on: Monday September 1, 2014

Dropped the rear. Cleaned and painted the differential. Car had mismatched axles, worn bearings and hubs leaking fluid, totally rusted-out housing and shackles for the quarter leafs, and dead quarter leafs. All were replaced, welded, bolted, fabricated and re-installed. Now the car doesn't bottom out. Bent panhard rod was replaced. Rear end is now solid. Got front end aligned and tweaked. Have adjustable front shock abosrbers that I'm dialing in. Tightened up bolts on the front of the...

Part 3 Weight Loss: My Wallet Is Thinner

Posted on: Monday September 23, 2013

Still coming together in the front. New bearings are in. Both right and left front suspensions have been disassembled cleaned, bead blasted, painted, magnafluxed, and reassembled with new bushings. Springs look great in silver I will clean the brake calipers and paint as I reinstall.. Turns out that the drilled and slotted rotors were installed on the wrong wheels 5 years ago. It was before I owned it, but the work was done by a local Brit car specialty shop who shall remain...

Part 2 What Has God Wraught

Posted on: Monday September 23, 2013

Things are starting to come together. Magnafluxed the king pins to make sure they were good. Spring pans are great. Steering rack in. Although new, I replaced the Zip ties with clamps because it seemed the right thing to do. Everything being bead blasted and painted before going back in. Pictures to follow if I remember. It is starting to get cold in NJ. Next on to the rear springs. I'm thinking of doing asymetrical springs with an extra leaf on the driver's side, as my wife doesn't...
