Unknown Owner's 1969 MG MGB MkII

***SOLD***
I bought the car in May, 2015. At that time, the odometer read 86,251. It now shows about 93,250.
The engine doesn't look quite as nice as the picture: a leak at the thermostat housing discolored the paint on the valve cover.
Other than that, pretty much everything works. I drive it very frequently: not quite very day, but when weather permits. The windshield wipers are slow, and don't park properly. Idle needs to be adjusted. So do valves. Probably carburetors. The heater cable to direct air to defrost/heat is not installed. I have the cable. It has a windshield from a donor car. I have the original windshield frame, and have ordered a replacement windshield.
I can provide more pictures to anyone who is interested.
Car was rebuilt in 1996-1997. Included rebuilt engine, disassemble for painting, new two-stage paint job, and lots more. I have some of the records from that rebuild.
Car had 108,359 on original odometer as of Feb 2, 1997: It got a new odometer in Jan, 1998, reading 73,430.
I bought the car in May, 2015. At that time, the odometer read 86,251 (The MA Registry recorded mileage as 186,251, since actual mileage is unknown.) So, lLikely actual mileage when I bought it approx. 121K+ About 13K on engine, paint, etc. when I bought it.
Compression today (cold engine)
#1 170+
#2 165
#3 165
#4 170+
The paint job was excellent, and has held up very well over the years, with the following exceptions: some bubbling at the rear fender welts, “crack of doom” on driver’s door (hasn’t changed in my 4 years of ownership), small area of paint lifting near right taillight, scrape in right rear fender (old – before I bought it). Typical minor chips and scratches for a 20-year-old paint job. With all that, it still looks sharp, and gets lots of comments.
The driver’s side battery box was rusted out, and never repaired when the car was rebuilt: both battery boxes have the Moss battery box inserts, plus the Clark & Clark quick-lift battery cover. There is a battery cut-off switch.
Car has Minotaur (Minilite clone from Moss) wheels on knock-off hubs. Seats are from a pre-1969 MBG – no headrests.
I’ve had a lot done to the car – listed below:
• New exhaust manifold and stainless steel Tourist Trophy “Touring” exhaust
• Carbs rebuilt by Joe Curto
• New Prestige top
• New front shocks
• New 185/70R-14 General AltiMAX RT43 tires
• Moto-Lita 14” steering wheel (used)
• Clutch master cylinder, starter, distributor with Pertronix ignition, new Hardi electronic fuel pump
• Cam (D9, from Basil Adams), rebuild cylinder head, replace timing chain
• Headlight relay, starter relay, LED brake, tail, and turn signal bulbs
• 3rd brake light
• And more
I have receipts for all this work, and more.
