It's been a few weeks since I began this journal, an d I haven't made a lot of progress. I've been taking stock of the situation and preparing to get going.
I've installed the front fenders an note that the right fender is about 1/2" lower than the left at its highest point. The right one looks more correct to me, and I also see that the bolt holes for the headlight bar on the left one
are in a brazed on patch. I'm going to get some measurements from another car that's not far from me and adjust accordingly.
i know I don't have the skills to make them perfect, but I want them to be as right as I can make them. I can at least get them symmetrical. Tomorrow I start wheeling the repair pieces for the right front.
I see the rear fenders are attached to the tub with 1/4 - 20 nuts and bolts, and no captive nuts. Since the correct fasteners have been used almost everywhere else, and this is an easy fix, I'm going to get some BSF bolts and make some some BSF square nuts and cages for here.I'm sure it's going to be a challenge to get the spot welder in under the framing, and also to do the spot welding on parts that are already painted. I'm planning to clean up the spots for the welds with my Dremel before welding.

A friend of mine(Jim Murray) has been restoring this car for about 3 years. He passed away in 2017, so he won't be able to work on it any more. I purchased the car from his wife in November, and I am carrying on from where he left off.
The restoration is about 80% complete. Everything except the front fenders has been painted. Jim left the front fenders to the end because he was hoping to find a better pair. The fenders have been involved in a front end collision and repaired badly.
A new wiring harness, upholstery kit(biscuit), and most brightwork was included in the purchase.
I have collected together a good selection of sheet metal equipment and I am taking a course in the use of the English wheel at the University of Youtube.
More to come.
