Hi JimOn the other side of the world and with an outside temperature of -6 degrees I have have been wrestling with the same task and likewise two old wood chisels removed 90% of my underseal. Glad to hear that you didn't find any nasties. The underside of my 1958 Magnette had been completely plastered in Shutz by the previous owner, I have found a lot of surface rust but no perforations. The rust I have removed with a combination pf MBX, wire wheel,, Makita power file and Fein mutimaster sander.For what it is worth, having poured over 12 years worth of Practical Classics best on test rustproofing product results, I have come up with the following protocol:Any areas of surface rust stabilised with Rustbuster FE 123Sound metal and stabilised rust painted with 2-3 coats of Epoxy Mastic 121Wheel arches spayed with 3M Body ShutzAll other areas (already painted with 121) sprayed with Dinitrol 4941Box sections and hard to reach areas sprayed with Noxudol 700.Will probably seem a bit over the top but the British clim

Hi Alan, thanks for the info. It doesn't look like the rustbuster product is available in NZ, i'll have to look for something similar. Only too familiar with the weather, and what happens to cars in the UK, we started out in Cheshire. Saw the light nearly 10 years ago, sneaked off to 'the other side of the world'Spent a little time in Northern Ireland, regular trips to the NW200, Ulster & some of the smaller road races
