I took a day off to deliver a windshield to a couple guys from Washington that are working on a cool project. Spent the majority of the day driving to Portland and back but it was good to find a home for the windshield.
Yesterday I decided to take another stab at getting the OD unit back on. It is a test of patience to get all of the splines lined up to allow the unit to drop down. After several attempts, I finally found the sweet spot and it dropped down to the oil pump cam. Then it was just a matter of levering the spring loaded pump assembly back to allow the unit to drop and slip over the cam. A little Permatex around the flange and now it’s all bolted up and ready to change out the rear oil seal and the speedo seal, fill it with oil and hook up the test rigging. Then I’ll find out if my efforts have paid off.
