The weather cooperated today so the SawZall came out and I turned the ‘70 MGB into a Midget. Make that two Midgets. Kinda bittersweet cutting up a car that I put so much effort into but it needed to happen. I’ve dismantled it down to a bare shell and managed to find homes for a lot of the parts across the country so in a way it lives on but couldn’t find someone to come get the shell. A shame really as it was not a rust bucket and would have been a great start for someone doing a build. I can’t dwell on that now obviously and I’m anxious to turn the corner and dive in on the GT that I found shortly after the wreck. I’ve moved some bits to the GT and plan on refurbishing the front suspension to swap into the GT soon so I’ve got some “mementos” in the GT. Now that the roadster is cut into two more manageable pieces, I can empty my utility trailer soon and load up the carcass and haul it off to the metal recycler so it will continue to live on, albeit in a much different form.
Wednesday
Another decent weather day so I did some more cutting. Most of the front end is in small pieces in the back of the truck now along with other metal such as exhaust pipes, mangled bumpers, leaf springs, radiators, etc.
The back half of the car is still intact but that may not stay that way much longer.
Saturday
I got my utility trailer back from my daughter’s house where it’s been stored for awhile. With the front half of the wreck cut up, I now have room for the trailer under the carport. I got all of the cut up pieces transferred over from my truck and now it’s a matter of waiting to see if the person that’s interested in the back end comes to get it otherwise the saw comes out and it goes into the trailer with all of the other bits.
