It’s been awhile since I’ve done anything on the GT as my wife had a very tricky surgery and is in the recovery process which has been a challenge to say the least. Needless to say, priorities didn’t include working on a car.
Now that a month has passed since the surgery and I have a little more time and less worry, it’s time to slowly pick up where I left off with the resurrection of the GT. After reviving it last Fall from a 34 year slumber and getting it to run and drive around the empty church lot across the street, it’s been parked in the garage during the Winter waiting for me to pull the engine and gearbox so that I can install the Craigslist OD that I revived as well as a new clutch, lightened flywheel, engine and engine bay cleanup, refreshed fishmouth grille from Pete Shannon, front suspension rebuild, and probably some other might as well jobs that will show up.
So, yesterday I moved the MINI daily driver outside, pushed the GT over in the middle of the garage, jacked it up and set it down on my new jack stands. That’s it. Doesn’t sound like much but after the last 2 1/2 months of our lives since the onset of symptoms to the discovery of the problem, and the subsequent process of scheduling a tricky surgery during a pandemic and the slow painful healing and recovery process, it seems like a huge step.
