Not much time to work on it lately but hoping that will change this weekend. Pretty much got the engine stripped down and a lot of it looks pretty clean but there is still more wire brushing, scrubbing to do. Got a box of parts yesterday from BPNW. Ordered on an afternoon and they were delivered the next day. Still waiting on some engine paint but I've enough to do in the meantime. I took a chance on my ‘70 RD last year and didn’t replace the rear main oil seal because it looked ok. Got away with it but the ‘71 was obviously leaking so I got a Speedi Sleeve and a new viton oil seal to go in. Also replacing the timing cover seal, installing a new oil pump and may have a look at the rod bearings while the engine is out. And perhaps the main bearings that I can do as well. New gaskets everywhere as I only want to do this stuff once and get it back on the road. I’m missing out on some great driving weather this Spring but hoping all of the effort pays off and it will be good and ready to go whenever and wherever I want to when I’m done.
