Came home from a few days away and just happened to pass the shop that I was hoping would take my car repair on. Beautiful shop with all kinds of high end cars in various stages of restoration. Abarth Zagato double bubble, ‘63 E-type DHC, Lancia, MGTD, XK120 to name just a few that I spied. No doubt that their work is excellent but I’m reasonably sure that the only reason they agreed to come look at my MGB is because they are a Hagerty authorized shop and that is my insurance carrier. It was brutal but polite honesty about the cost of their work vs. the value in proceeding. Lots of hints about how the front half would look compared to the rest of the car when they finished. Named a few other shops that do good work where the money might go further, yada yada yada. Politely left off by saying, “Let’s see what Hagerty has to say”.

The good news if you can call it that, is that my o ring, seal and gasket kit came for my OD. The bad news is that I might not have a car to put it in...
