Finally got a little dry weather so I could get out to the carport and continue with the disassembly of the wreck. There has been so much water running off the hill lately that I haven’t been able to crawl under the car to get the rear suspension out. Not much time this afternoon but enough to disconnect the e-brake, driveshaft, brake lines, shock links, and spring u-bolts before it got dark. Just need to drop the leaf springs tomorrow hopefully and then it’s time to do some surgery.
I’ve been fooling around with the gear shift knob that came with my GT trying to fit a push button switch in the top of the wood knob. I drilled out and tapped the metal insert to fit the late model OD shift lever and then pried off the enamel MG medallion and bored out the core to accept the switch, enlarged the recess on top to fit a 1 1/4” stainless washer, and after fitting the switch through the washer, epoxied the washer into the top of the knob. Not quite done yet but some teak oil and a coat of poly to start with more poly to come. I like it and I think it will be nice to have a OD button on the shift knob.
