I was hoping to actually try to start the car yesterday for the first time since 1986. Swapped in the newish NGK plugs from the wrecked ‘70, pulled and cleaned up the dizzy cap, points and rotor, hooked up the fuel feed to the carbs and blipped the key for a bit. Cranks fine but gas was pissing out the rear carb at the jet tube connection on the float bowl. No joy. Time to see if I can find a service kit somewhere. Thinking that ai should just swap over the known working HS4’s from my ‘70 and rebuild the originals when parts are available. Also time to buy a new fire extinguisher for the garage to have on hand...
Today’s mission is to pull the carbs from both and also the dizzy. I need to put some new points, condenser and a red rotor along with a new cap. Plop the other HS4’s on, drain the oil and put fresh oil and filter on since I have been circulating MMO around for a week or so. We’ll see how much time I will have and how far I’ll get with a busy 2 year old granddaughter occupying our time. Cars can wait. She’s a joy and I love hanging out with her.
