Got the engine and gearbox out today and then pulled the gearbox off to have a look. After getting it running last September and briefly driving it across the street, it is no wonder that I had so much difficulty shifting gears. The release bearing is totally disintegrated. I suspect the old boy that had it before me just didn’t have it in him to deal with it. He ran a busy cabinet shop and had little time for his MGB.

Now the fun begins. Flywheel is going to the machine shop to get cleaned up and lightened. Engine is filthy so a complete degreasing and some paint before the lightened flywheel and new clutch go back in and the OD gearbox
