After getting the GT back on the road for the first time in 34 years, I parked it in the garage and shifted my attention to stripping the roadster down so that I can get it out of the garage and make room in the garage to continue working on the GT’s suspension and the OD transmission transplant and engine cleanup.
I made a lot of progress the last couple of days. Engine and gearbox are out, heater box is out as well as the front wiring loom, the seats, bumpers, dash, carpet. I took the stowaway top frame out of the boot as well as the convertible top and fit them to the car for the first time since I’ve owned the car. Having only driven it fora few months this Summer, there was never a need. I was amazed at how well the top fit and how well the frame went together. A couple more things to put on the BST forum when I get around to it. The interior is very solid which I thought was the case since it was a California car and has been garaged for several years in Oregon. It’s ready to get rolled outside under the carport now. Whether I strip it down further by removing doors, windscreen and the front and rear suspension, I don’t know right now. It would be good to find a buyer for the rolling shell because it’s too solid to crush.
