Backed the GT out of the garage so technically it’s the first time it’s been driven in 34 years. Small victory but a victory nonetheless. Had company for a spell today and it was cold and foggy so it wasn’t until early afternoon that I got it outside. Ran some SeaFoam into the gas tank and some in the crankcase as well and then ran the car for quite awhile to see if I could blow the cobwebs out a bit. Never used the stuff before and I was expecting huge clouds of smoke but it wasn’t too bad. The sn finally broke out so I thought I’d give it a bath as I wanted to try a more aggressive pad on the polisher to see if I could get rid of some swirls and scratches in the paint. The car looks pretty good from ten feet but up close the old paint shows it’s warts. I did get it back in the garage later and worked on the paint a bit and made a slight improvement but it’s not going to get much better. I’m considering having a go at some wet sanding in a small spot to see if that would help but I’m out of my element when it comes to paint work beyond the polisher. Might need to read up and watch some videos.
I was hoping to take it out for a quick spin to see if I could break the clutch free but the brakes needed some adjustment so I put the back end up on stands and tightened the adjusters up. The e brake was much improved after that so if the weather is good tomorrow, I’ll see about that quick spin. Just not enough room to do what needs to be done to free the clutch up. If I can time it right with the traffic on our street, I should be able to pick up some speed going down the hill and then nail the brakes and see what happens.
