Not sure but did you say it runs fine with fuel cap removed? If so you have a blockage in the venting somewhere and eventually the fuel pump cannot overcome the lack of venting. Drill a hole in the filler cap...You might get more repsonses if you post this on the MGB Forum where more people view? Thanks and good luckMike

So, if I disconnect the venting completely and use an early"B" gas cap, plus plug the vent connection on the top of the tank by the filler neck...I'm good to go?

Hi,What type of Rotor arm have you got, the So called new Lucas ones have too much Carbon in them and can ARC to Ground. I was Stumped with a similar issue until I put a RED Rotor arm on, never has faltered since.Just an idea.Good LuckKeith

Thanks Keith, I got "Mr B" back on the road. Totally eliminated the evaporative/vent system and converted to early gas cap plus a neck. Drilled 1/4 inch hole through interior and outer chrome of a lock gas cap. All is right with the world!

Have you checked the fuel pressure just before it passes into the first carburetor (place a tee in he line and measure)? I think it should be no more than 3lbs (ish). Maybe your slowly flooding it due to much pressure or have a bad seat in the float control valve(s).To quote Arthur Conan Doyle "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth."
